Dr John Steytler

Dr. John Steytler is the incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN), effective from 1 September 2023.


Currently the GIZ Namibia Project Leader of the Sustainable Development Goals Initiative, Dr. Steytler brings a wealth of experience to his new position.

Previously, he served as the Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic of Namibia and played a pivotal role in establishing Namibia's first National Statistics Office, where he served as the founding Statistician General at the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) for 4 years.


With a strong background in macroeconomics and international economics, Dr. Steytler has made significant contributions in both the public and private sectors.

Salomo Hei is an experienced Managing Director with a proven track record in the research industry, demonstrating a keen focus on economics and investments. 

He has honed his skills in diverse areas, including Research, Capital Markets, Fundraising, Project Finance, and Data Analysis, establishing himself as a force in the business development sector. 


Salomo's academic credentials include a Masters in Development Finance from the esteemed Stellenbosch Business School. This robust educational background, combined with his extensive professional experience, has endowed him with an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of the economic landscape. 

In his current role at High Economic Intelligence, Salomo provides strategic direction and leadership, leveraging his extensive knowledge of economics and investments to drive innovation and growth. His unique blend of analytical acuity and business acumen has significantly contributed to the success of numerous projects. 


Salomo Hei's thought leadership and expertise in the economic sector make him an invaluable contributor to any discussion relating to economics and business development.

Prof Andre Roux

Lecturer in Economics and Head: Futures Studies programmes at Stellenbosch Business School

Prof. Andre Roux, a distinguished figure in the academic and business sectors, currently heads the Futures Studies programmes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

Before assuming his current role, he was Director of the Institute for Futures Research (I FR) at the University of Stellenbosch, where he facilitated strategic intervention sessions with business and government leaders. 


Prior to his tenure at the IFR, Prof. Roux held various key positions including economist at Old Mutual, lecturer and department head in the South African National Defence Force, and 
junior lecturer at Stellenbosch University. 


Renowned for his expertise in business economics and labour economics, Prof. Roux's research is predominantly focused on globalisation and socio-economic development in Africa. He holds several degrees from Stellenbosch University, including a BCom, Hons BCom in Economics, an MCom in Economics, and a PhD. 


In addition to his duties at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Prof. Roux is a regular guest lecturer on various postgraduate programmes and has been a consistent lecturer on the course in economics presented to MBA students at the Vlerick-Leuven-Gent Business School in Belgium since 2009. 


Prof. Roux has contributed significantly to academic literature, with over 130 popular publications, a book (now in its 9th edition), and numerous academic journals featuring his work. His captivating presentation style and depth of knowledge earned him the Best Lecturer Award in Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences in 2016.

 

Given his impressive career and extensive knowledge, Prof. Roux promises to bring invaluable insights to any discussion on economics, futures thinking, and socio-economic development.
